Let me tell you a story about everyone who has ever been in love. But really in love. Really, really in love. In love in a way that you used to be this smart and cool person, but now you’re just dumb and don’t get jokes, even though you laugh at everything your sweetheart says. That you just spend days thinking about them (him or her) and their beautiful, amazing, marvelous, divine self. You are in school or at work, but you barely hear or do anything. You’re just smiling while picturing babies you’re gonna have together. In your mind you’re one step away from meeting their parents, moving in together or getting a pet, but oops…they’re not. It’s not like you feel sad about it. You’re completely oblivious in your Once-in-a-life-time-love story, so you don’t even see it, let alone bother with it. It’s just you and your feelings, and, oh my God the LOVE.
So, pretty soon you turn into a creepy little person who lavishes your mate with excessive love proclamations. And the more they back down, the more of that love you throw in their face. Somebody has to fill the gap, you think. They are just shy; it goes through your mind. They’re scared of commitment, you rationalize. So you call to boost their confidence with too many compliments, even though you know they are at work. You say I LOVE YOU first, second and third, even though they keep answering thank you and that’s nice. But that doesn’t stop you, nothing does.
